Help end the stigma of ADHD—Join the club!

The Shiny Squirrel is a 4"-tall electroplated resin squirrel desk pal that people with ADHD and their supporters can display to create a community. The stronger the community the more we can educate people and help reduce stigma.

The squirrel is immediately understandable as a symbol, and beautiful enough to be a prominent feature of your desk, your mantle or your dresser.

Help us get the elephant out of the room by putting a shiny squirrel in it.

Why a shiny squirrel?

If shiny is distracting and a squirrel is distracting, wouldn’t a shiny squirrel be the most distracting thing?

My name is Ric. I have ADHD. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 40 (15 years ago). I’ve faced a lot of stigma and misunderstanding since childhood. So, a while back, I thought it would be cool if I had a shiny squirrel to put on my desk to say that I have ADHD. That I’m easily distracted, and I'm not doing things wrong: I’m just doing them differently.

Like, if somebody were to see it on my desk and go “hey that’s distracting,” I’d be like “yeah, that’s the way my brain works!” Maybe it becomes a bonding experience. Maybe it’s an opportunity to educate.

So, I thought I’ll get on the Internet and find a shiny squirrel. Guess what? I could find no company that makes a figurine that’s both a squirrel and shiny.

So, in January of 2021, I decided that I would make a shiny squirrel. Now I’m ready to produce them.

I believe a shiny squirrel is a great mascot for ADHD. My dream is to put one on the desk of every ADHDer who feels like they are the only one around who is like this. Or on the dresser of anyone whose trauma has made them want to scream—but not out loud. Let the squirrel say it.
